We are group 2 in the World History subject, and we are a varied group of students from different majors, therefore we have different points of view about this subject. Our aim is to provide an in-depth analysis of the various armed conflicts and social unrest that took place in Peru from the 1980s to the early 2000s. We believe that it is important to understand these events, both for their impact on Peru and for the broader lessons they offer about conflict resolution, human rights, and the role of the state. The internal conflicts in Peru had a significant impact on the country and its people. These conflicts were primarily driven by the activities of various insurgent groups, as well as by state repression and human rights abuses. The most prominent of these insurgent groups was the Shining Path, a Maoist guerrilla group that sought to overthrow the Peruvian government and establish a communist state. The group was responsible for a number of terrorist attacks, including bombings, assassinations, and massacres of civilians. The group was eventually defeated by the Peruvian government in the mid-1990s, but not before the violence had claimed tens of thousands of lives. The other main insurgent group was the Túpac Amaru Revolutionary Movement (MRTA), which also engaged in acts of terrorism and violence against the Peruvian state. The group was responsible for the seizure of the Japanese embassy in Lima in 1996, which resulted in the deaths of 72 hostages, including diplomats and government officials. The internal conflicts in Peru had far-reaching social, economic, and political consequences. Thousands of lives were lost, and the violence and instability left deep scars on Peruvian society. Many families lost loved ones, and entire communities were displaced by the violence. The conflicts also had important implications for human rights and the rule of law.
